Health in the 21st Century

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Folks of the 21st century are obsessive about looking good and being healthy.

Gymnasium membership, south beach diet, Atkins diet, diet tablets, spa treatments, personal coaches, plastic surgery the list grows and on. And yet a major contributor to ill health looks to be ever present in our day to day life. From kid to adult, we all appear to be honeycombed with stress. Growing up the doctors simply commended a good diet, acceptable exercise, and a daily dose of minerals and vitamins. Today, they have a tendency to be more definitive and there’s a consultant for everything.

A Nutrition consultant or Dietary specialist will endorse a specialized diet depending on your goals and wants.

The most elementary rule is; eat a well balanced meal. Where sufficient exercise used to just be a jog in the park, it is now outlined into 2 categories, each with its own set of instructors as required. Multi-vitamins after breakfast used to be adequate to give us the energy boost we want to function at optimum levels up to the end of the day. Now it comes in so many forms — minerals and vitamins derived from food, regular multi-vitamin and mineral additions, herbal additions. Gaining weight used to mean just getting fat, now we here talks of mass-building with the help of a stern diet, resistance training and body additions or muscle boosters (like creatine). This is aided by stern diet, weight lifting, aerobics, and diet tablets. There also are different sorts of diagnostic tests being done to certify and guarantee good health. In Television crime shows what we hear of most frequently in DNA testing. Though this is commonly used in paternity testing DNA testing may be previously found out early what inherent illnesses someone could have and the way to counterbalance them.

Diabetes, cancer, asthma, high cholesterol all of these and more can be discovered thru testing and addressed either by exercise and a good diet or supplemented by surgery. Others take alternative forms of healing like acupressure, acupuncture, and homeopathic drugs. The most relaxing way, I have found, of de-stressing is to go to a health spa. You can go for the entire weekend package which includes controlled meals and exercise, but plenty of folk go for the calming massages and the aromatherapy.

Imagine going to the spa at the end of a tedious day. You shower, and then you lie on a table and permit the attendant to run their sorcery fingers on you, while the smell of concentrated oils wafts towards you from the oil diffuser or the scented candles. In the background are the sound of the waves on the beach and the agreeable sound of chimes and harps. Be the healthiest you may be in the 21st century. Be it thru diet, exercise, or any sort of healing or relaxation exercise.
